Beat the Heat

After the rain last night, I went for a leisurely walk with my boyfriend.  When we got home, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and I screamed.  It looked like I had been electrocuted.  Now, I’ve lived outside of DC almost my entire life so this really should come as no surprise; DC is essentially a swamp after all.  But for whatever reason, the humidity catches me completely off guard year after year in the form of insane, out of control, completely frizzy and untamable hair.  So with the expected temperature in the mid 90′s the rest of the week, I am coming prepared.  Here are some hair styles that are inspiring me:

If you’re dead pressed on wearing your hair down, I’ve read that a leave-in treatment and using products that moisturize are best.  Try to rinse your hair with cold water at the end of your shower to seal your cuticle and let your hair air dry as often as you can.  And when all else fails:

I couldn’t agree more about the humidity. My go to style is the top knot bun.

At least DC humidity will have prepared me for adapting to El Salvador’s climate! I cut my hair just above my shoulders a couple months ago and am now debating whether to grow it back so I can have more flexibility with updos (and by updos I mean a ponytail or bun) or keep it short so it doesn’t stick to my back if I wear it down.

That is true!! I’m sure there are some “up-do” tricks for short hair, but the length might give you more options. If all else fails, tuck it up in a hat!
