What’s In My Purse

I have friends that love to watch people apply makeup.  I have friends that love to watch people cook.  (You know who you are.)  I am one of those friends that wants to know what’s in your purse.  Not in that creepy, “hand it over and let me dig through it” kind of way; but more so, when you take something out of your secret pouch, I’d like to know what it is, where you got it, what it does, etc.  That being said, I’m coming forward with the contents of mine…

A vintage snake bracelet – one of my favorite pieces of jewelry – in my purse just in case  I need to spice things up a bit…and…well…because I like it.

A watch – why is it in my purse?  Days that I forget to wear a watch are days that I just don’t feel like myself.  This is a backup.

Allergease – ohh just the most amazing allergy fighting lozenge you’ll ever grace your mouth with.  *Bonus – made with organic honey.  *Added bonus – the company was started by one of my very best friends.  I am so proud.  Get a free sample here or order it here.

Sephora mirror – if you’ve ever received a Sephora gift card it’s likely that it came in one of these babies.  It might even be worth more than the gift card itself.

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo – WOW.  This changed my life.  To the co-worker that brought me into the know – I am forever in debt.

Keys – can’t get anywhere without ‘em!

Nail file – nothing is worse than a snagged nail that you can’t fix immediately.  Nothing is better than being able to manicure your nails any time, anywhere.

Lancome Le Crayon Kohl – day to night with a smoky eye made easy – this tiny pencil is beyond.

Loose change – you’d be surprised how often this comes in handy.

Hair ties & bobby pins – I’ve always wanted to be the girl that could use one thin hair tie and call it a day.  I need not one, but two, of the thickest hair bands and bobby pins at my beck and call if I even want to think about getting this mane under control.  (I always bring an extra for good measure – they snap.)

Essie Tart Deco and Essie Good to Go – If you recall, one of my New Years Resolutions was to keep my nails painted at all times.  Enough said.  (*Note to self: start carrying nail polish remover….)

Fortunes – I actually have a bowl of these at home – as cheesy as they can be, they make me smile.  I’ll have the last laugh when I win the lottery someday with the numbers listed…..

L’Oreal Voluminous – We’ve discussed this before.  It’s always been my go-to mascara.  Even when I cheat and try something else, I always come running back.

Revlon Coral Reef Lip Gloss - I need options.  This bright coral shade pops.

Ray Ban’sI collect sunglasses.  And by collect I mean hoard, love, can’t stop buying, will always feel like I need, etc.  They’re always on me.

Lemon – no, I’m not pulling this out in a restaurant when they forget that I ordered my drink with lemon (although, I’ve been tempted).  I use it to make both cold and hot lemon water throughout the day at work…and to share with friends that love lemons as much as I do.

Myntz – sold at Trader Joe’s, sugar free, aspartame free, dentist recommended breath mints.  Amaze.

Smith’s Minted Rose Lip Balm – pretty sure we’ve discussed this before, but I’ll repeat again: this little pot of joy blows chapstick out of the water.  Plus, it’s got a sheer gloss effect to it.

Best Pen Ever - I got this at the Paper Source.  It’s purple, with a tiny felt tip point.  It makes me want to write everything down.  (Yes, I was the kid that asked for office supplies for Christmas at 8 years old…don’t judge.)

Elliott Lucca WalletI’ve been in the market for a new wallet, but I can’t seem to find one that compares.  This was one of the first purchases I made as a Nordstrom intern, so maybe it’s the sentimental value that’s holding me back?  Anyway- talk about a quality product.  I’ve had it for eons.

Sharpies – (*see “Best Pen Ever.”  I love office supplies.)

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream – Gasp!  Another lip product?  Okay, in all fairness this can be used as a healing cream anywhere on your body – but works exceptionally well for dry lips.

iPhone – enough said.

H&M Bracelets – these float around with me everywhere, on my wrist, in my purse, in my car.  Sometimes I put them on.  Sometimes I just like knowing they’re there.

The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector – The hand cream of all hand creams.  I buy three at a time because I’m terrified that they’ll discontinue them one day…

NARS Gold Digger – this is the last lip gloss, I swear.  This sheer, gold color looks ethereal on everyone.  I love it.

Post It’s – addicted.  (See “Sharpies.”)

LeSportSac pouch – This fun, bright print is easy to find in the darkest of bags and holds whatever I need or want it to.  Yay!

So…..you know I’m dying to know…..what’s in your purse?!

    Hah! The lemon definitely caught me off guard at first – but it’s so smart that you take it to work with you to add to your water!! I used to store lemons and huge jugs of water in our work refridgerator – having everything planned out made it so much easier to drink tons of water in a day! {okay, not tons – more like liters… :) }

Otherwise, I love this peek into your bag! You have such lovely things, and you’re so practical! I would love to have you around when I need an extra bobby pin :)

    xxx,
    Alexandra

Fun blog :) Your purse seems to be much neater than mine! I do always have mascara, nail clippers, and at least 5 lip glosses. I am that girl who could hold her hair up with a blade of grass… Trust me, you’re lucky… I’ll probably be bald by 50!

    Anywho- hope you’re well!

Hi Dana!! Thanks for checking it out! I like the nail clippers – I might have to add this to my stash. Your hair is beautiful – and you absolutely will never go bald!! Hope you’re doing well. x – E

Lemons! Its the one thing I knew would be in your purse .. the one thing you would not leave home without. Me– I am floss addict.. and I pretty much freak out if I don’t have it and my fave cocoa butter mint lip balm. My hidden secret ..fun printed band aids because I am clumsy and I hate plain brown ones :) And now after reading about it in In Style and you using it , I have to get the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream!

Aegot!! I love this! Floss is a good one – I hate when I need it and don’t have it handy. That Eight Hour Cream will last forever – highly recommended. Miss you!

Cutex sells little nail polish remover pads that are individually packaged! I think I found them at target. Great for throwing one in your purse or overnight bag! I use them at work when I’ve gotten distracted and started picking at my nails :/

I also have a note pad in my purse for random things I want to write down. Books to check out, recipes to try, shopping lists, etc. It’s one of those little moleskin notebooks from B&N. To me, it’s easier than using a note pad on my phone, no fat-fingering!

I use lollia hand creme. OBSESSED with their scents! (and the cute packaging)

    I. LOVE. DRY. SHAMPOO. Specifically Oscar Blandi! Question: How large is your purse? Haha. I think you will be disappointed in my lack of makeup and accessorizing. Can I hire you as my personal stylist? One thing I always, always have, regardless of purse size or occasion, is Chapstick. Plain, Chapstick-brand Chapstick.

Also, I love that one of your New Years Resolutions was to always have your nails painted — one because it’s a good idea (my nails always look terrible, a fact that I was made much more aware of after becoming engaged/married) and two because remember the 8th grade economics fair?!

      • emily says:

How could I ever forget our “pre-painted glue on fake nail” booth?! Too bad we spent more on supplies than we ever earned….so economical of us.
